I recently designed an Etsy shop kit for a wonderful woman named Sharon. After working with her, I felt the need to share her story and also her shop.

Hi!

My name is Sharon and I am a Mammography Technician and I have a passion for Breast Cancer Awareness for both women and men. Yes, men get breast cancer also!

The inspiration for opening my Etsy shoppe, The Ta Ta Shoppe, is my dear friend Maria. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year and since, has had a double mastectomy, radiation and chemo. I’m not mentioning the possible outcome because I do believe in Miracles. Her story is very common and sad, because if Maria had her yearly Mammogram, then her cancer would have probably been detected.

Maria’s mother and sister are both Breast Cancer Survivors and since breast cancer is largely inherited, Maria waited two years before having her annual Mammogram.

We as women, always seem to be too busy to take care of ourselves. It is our common trait to take care of other people-family, friends, volunteering, etc. It is time for us to start taking care of OURSELVES!!

Please encourage your family members and friends to do monthly BSE (Breast Self Exams) and a yearly Mammogram. Baseline, or first time Mammograms usually begin at the age of 35. If it is normal, then yearly Mammograms begin at the age of 40.

Happy Friday :)

Well I thought I needed to take a minute to post something...anything at all. I have been super busy with premade and custom designs and haven't had a minute to say hello.

It has been a crazy week between orders, my kiddos, and this freaky hot weather we've been dealing with. I did manage to take a day to float around the pool and it sure did me good. I seriously have to force myself to do things like that ;)

On a happy note, my wonderful friend and very talented photographer took some photos of my two youngest this week. Here's a couple of my favs (these are the sneak peek samples):

As some of you may have noticed, Trendy Girl Designs has a new look. I actually started creating this design as a premade and liked it so much I decided to use it :) What do you think?

I know it's been awhile since my last post. I've been super busy creating blogs, Etsy sets, logos, and other designs for some pretty wonderful clients. I'm still playing catch up because I spoiled myself and took the holiday weekend off.

I plan to add some new freebies this week. You will find new backgrounds, and a new free template before Saturday. I am also currently working on a new digital scrap kit that will be available free for personal use.

Hard week

So this week has been really rough. My poor Father in law went to the hospital and ended up having two, five hour surgeries in one day. Between worrying about him, taking care of the kids, finishing up projects for clients, and managing my home...I am exhausted ;)

I normally add new designs and freebies each week. Needless to say, this week nothing new has been added as of yet.

I will have several custom designs to share before the end of this week. I hope to also add a freebie template or two.

Thank you to all of my wonderful clients who have been so patient through this hard time. I always get the best people to work with. What a blessing!

Hello and Happy weekend!

I had a few poeple ask me how often I add new items to my free template area of the blog and also my premade template area. I just thought I'd share the answer with everyone so you know when to expect new designs.

I add at least one free blogger template every week and between 2-3 premades. You can also expect several Etsy banner kits each week.

I am in the process of coming up with some kind of schedule for the rest of my freebies. Usually I add one free digital scrap kit each month and backgrounds when my time permits.

Well that just sucks!

So for the past few weeks I have been telling myself (and my hubby too) I need to pick up an external hard drive for my laptop. I finally grabbed one Friday afternoon when I was out shopping. Friday evening I transferred all of my important files over to it. I was pretty impressed at how easy the process was.

Saturday afternoon I had been working on two custom designs for clients when I closed my laptop to get a snack for my little man. When I opened it again, it seriously caught fire! OMG! It's pretty sad to admit, but losing a pc to me feels like losing a friend...lol. I had that laptop for three years and used it everyday. I worked off it, played off it, shopped off it. After the initial shock wore off and I realized the laptop was fried, I thought how lucky am I to have just transferred all my files and pictures to the external hard drive just the night before. I seriously recommend that everyone use an external hard drive. I'm lucky that my laptop didn't die sooner, before I had purchased one.

Today, I headed out to Best Buy and found a HP laptop and brought it home with me. It's really cool and has a lot of neat extras. It's just going to take me a few days to get everything back in order. That said, it may be until the end of the week until I add any freebies, although I hope to add some sooner.

Issues with my file host

I was notified last night that there is a problem with my file host. The problem occurs when you try to download my files. Once the files are downloaded and you try to unzip them, there is an error code stating that the file is not valid or that it is empty. I am in the process of getting this fixed and should have all links up and running smoothly soon.

p.s. This pertains to my freebie scrap kits only. All other freebie files seem to be working fine.

A Few Minor changes

Hey everyone :)

I just want to let everyone know that there will be a few minor changes here at TGD within the next day or so. I will be adding a new navigation bar so that it is easier to navigate through the site. I will also be adding new products, so make sure to check them all out.

What's Going On Blogger?

As of yesterday, Blogger users around the world discovered they had a serious issue. Upon editing a clients template, I myself, discovered the problem.

Save, Preview, and Clear Edits on the Blogger HTML editor are disabled. This makes it impossible for anyone with the problem to edit their blog template, or anyone Else's. I urge anyone who has not noticed a problem to stay out of the html editor until Blogger has a handle on this. Editing your template now may cause you to become one of the many with an unfinished blog template that is able to be seen by the world.

I have to admit, I was pretty lost without being able to edit yesterday. I finally decided to make some lemonade out of the those lemons blogger threw at me ;) I made some free stuff for you!!

Free Backgrounds for Blogger will now be available under my free section. I have designed several already and plan to add them sometime today. 2 and 3 column backgrounds will be available.

A few examples:

Let's all keep our fingers crossed and hope that Blogger has these issues fixed up by the end of today. I know there are a lot of bloggers who are as lost as I am without the html editor.

Blog Makeover for Naddez's Tidbyts

Spring Forward!

This Winter turned out to be a rough season for my family. I have been unable to put as much time into my work at Trendy Girl Designs as I would have liked. Things are finally looking up and so now I feel like I can dive back into creating and designing. I've missed it so much!

What you can expect to see:

During the months of February and march, I plan to add several freebies, premades, new Etsy banner kits, and a new digi scrap kit. I will also have a new desktop calendar available March 1st and each month there after. Please let me know if there is something you are looking for, but do not see here. I strive to have all your design and print needs in one place.

I'm finally back!

The last month was absolutely crazy for my family. Things are finally back to normal. I am so excited to be back to work here on my blog and also at my Etsy store.

Slowing it down for the Holidays

Grandma Sez So Makeover :)

Today I finished the custom blog design that I have been working on for the past few days. The author of Grandma Sez So won a $100.00 gift certificate to Trendy Girl Designs through the Holiday Hop Giveaway and requested to use it on my custom design package "Lookin' Good".

This was a lot of fun for me. Laurie, the author of the blog, was amazing to work with. Her sense of humor was just fantastic and kept me smiling the whole time. She asked for a country design. This is something that I have never done and really, never seen. I must have emailed her 50 times a day until I was sure she was happy with the end result.

Laurie picked out the fantastic cowgirl to use as an icon. I think this was a great idea as the cowgirl just makes you smile when you see her :)

Here is a screenshot of the finished blogger template and the Twitter background ( I added some freebies in because Laurie was so great..lol)

I thought I'd share this experience with everyone. It was definitely a great one :)

Well, we have had a very long couple of days with 3 sick kids. I hate when my babies are sick...I wish I could make them feel better.

I used my new graphics tablet to create some of the elements. I have to say that the tablet was definitely a good purchase.

It's my birthday weekend!!!

Notice I said weekend? Ever since I can remember, I celebrated my birthday all weekend long. Now that I'm turning 35, I really don't feel the need to celebrate at all....LoL!

I'm actually pretty excited because I'm buying myself a graphics tablet for my birthday. I now will be able to use graphics that I draw as part of my digital designs. How cool is that!

I will be adding new items all week long, so make sure to check back often.

Etsy Banners and graphics

This weekend I started designing some really cool Etsy banners and graphics. I plan to start adding them to my store by tomorrow evening. The premades are complete with three banners, three avatars, one reserved listing graphic, one thank you graphic, and a business card design. I will also be adding premade logos in the near future. 5 years ago when my one and only daughter, Kaylee, was born I knew I would want to document her life. I made her Grandma all sorts of little "brag books" filled with baby pics to show off her new little Granddaughter. I went down several paths dabbling in different areas of scrapbooking like tags, cards, and paper piecing. Then I found my passion...TEAR BEARS! I thought it was so odd that I could "tear" this special handmade paper, glue body parts together, create a face, and actually have a cute bear in the end. I design themed tear bears that clients purchase and use anyway they want to on their own paper crafting projects. Themes include Baby, Birthday, Christmas, Halloween, Summer, School, and many many more!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Last year my little ones did not go trick or treating because my daughter was going through a phase where she didn't want to get dressed...lol. This year is a different story and mommy is really excited!

Premade scrapbook pages

I have been selling premade scrapbook pages on ebay for about a year now. I opened a store on Etsy and have recently sold a few there as well. I have decided to add a page on my blog to help promote them. Scrapbooking is my other love. I should say paper crafting is my other love as I love to create cards, calendars, scrapbook pages, photo frames, and so many other things. I am a wahm of three babies. design 36 was born one day in my kitchen. One of my friends told me, as many people have, that she loves how I decorate my house. It's been a busy week

This time of year is always a busy time. My oldest started 10th grade this year and my baby girl started ballet and tap. Next year will be even worse, but I'm always up for a challenge :)

I have been spending a lot of time designing some really cool templates. I'm excited about getting them up and available for purchase. Why Blog?

A blog and a website really aren't that different anymore. One great thing about having a blog is that it's hosted for free. If you're using your blog for commercial reasons, it's a great way to keep in touch with your clients. Giving your clients a more personal experience will most likely increase the chances of them coming back for more.

Here is an example of a commercial blog that I recently designed: ddw photography . You can see the resemblance to an actual website. My blog is another example of a commercial use blog. I love that I can have my blog and also sell my products here. How cool is that! I call it my "blogsite".

Personal blogs are great too. There are so many fun things going on out in the blogging world. A huge trend for stay at home moms is to blog daily about anything and everything going on in their lives. It's quite a great support system, really. After reading a few, you realize that you definitely are not alone on many child raising, husband having, financial worrying, issues. It's great to share our problems with others who understand.

So although there are many more wonderful reasons I can think of to start a blog, I hope these at least enlightened you on the whole blogging phenomena. If you have any questions at all, please always feel free to contact me.
